Fridays at the Farm

We are bringing back a favorite from last year - Fridays at the Farm!  This is a great way to get a taste of all the farm-life fun.  You can attend one, a couple, or every Friday.  Since we are including longer themed camps this year, there will only be

FIVE Fridays at the Farm dates, so sign up soon!

Each morning will start with feeding, watering, and moving all of our animals.  Ever wanted to hold a chicken or check for eggs?  Or hold a baby bunny or pet a cow?  This is your chance!  Next we will grab our harvest baskets and see what's to eat in the garden.  There's always a new treat to dig up or pick.  Finally we will cook a farm fresh meal, camp style, to enjoy the fruits of our labor.  In between all of this, there's plenty of time to run through the sprinkler, climb in the tree house, slide down the hay bales, and cool off with hand-churned ice cream.

Gardening 101

This camp is for all of our budding gardeners!  Early June is still a good time to add plants such as corn, squash, beans, and sweet potatoes, (and hopefully this camp will precede some of our intense summer heat.)  We will soak in all of the garden wisdom as possible, from soil health, to planting, to watering and plant care.

Few things are more satisfying than getting your hands in some dirt!  Campers will go home with knowledge to start their own gardens, along with a few vegetable plants to care for.  My garden is my happy place on our farm, so I'm excited to share it, along with all of our animals, with your children.

Poultry Palooza! Camp

This camp is all about poultry - chickens AND turkeys! We will follow a similar format to our beloved Fridays at the Farm camps, with lots of extra learning all about poultry.  Learn about how to care for chickens and turkeys from tiny chicks to grown adults, egg layer chickens and meat birds.  Learn about advantages of different styles of coops, what to feed poultry, and why we move our chickens around to new pastures.

(We will NOT be harvesting any chickens at this camp.  We recognize that some children may struggle with this part.  Also, harvesting involves very sharp knives.  So, any camper for this camp is invited to come watch a chicken harvest with their parents on the morning of Saturday June 21st, at no charge.)

Calling all my Flower Princess Cowgirls!  This week is all about FLOWERS - growing flowers, arranging flowers, pressing flowers, drying flowers, and so on.  We will use mostly fresh flowers from our garden, but sometimes we forage for natural greenery, herbs, and even weed flowers.  On our final day we will make handmade flower crowns and celebrate with a

tea party!

I know what you're thinking Mama....
"Can I come too!?"

YES!

We have two openings for each camp for Mom (or Grandma, Dad, Grandpa, etc.) to attend with her child.

So if you've ever wanted to learn about homesteading, this is a great opportunity!  You will be able to participate in all of the activities alongside your child.

The camps are still geared towards children, however there's plenty of time to ask questions.
